Saying that dude has issues is an understatement!
I always looked at his post with disdain and bewilderment when he would post on the audioasylum. When i saw he got his own soapbox, I have maybe been to his site through links above maybe 5 times.... It always the same... really bad broken english, discordant rants about some gear, which always comes around to his stuff being the best....
I use to think his post were humourous, but after time (a short one) , I quit reading his posts... never really had any good info that was worth the price of admission.

Could'nt resist clicking on the link. Damn! What a charactor. Fact is.....the 19 IS a fantastic loudspeaker system. I know it. You guys know it. He is in the very small minority that thinks otherwise......or does he really? See, I have a theory. I think that maybe the "cat" deep down inside is much impressed by the 19's sonic attributes and capabilities.....yet won't dare admit it. It is fashionable among "audio-intellectuals"......to dis that which is extremely popular and for good reason....and I stress: FOR GOOD REASON.
No way....can someone like the "cat" admit that such a grand system could at one time be purchased by the masses.....of-the-shelf.....so to speak and they need not be engineers to own such equipment. In his little world, in order for a system to be good....or great even....it must be esoteric. (in other words.....weird).
I mean...."The Cat"...thinks he could even begin to second guess a multitude of Altec engineers? Not to mention the high praise given the system through various audio publications throughout the years?
Well, I myself am NO engineer. Hardly. But I do love music. Music is that which stirs my soul...and my 19 system delivers it to me in ways that I am constantly rediscovering every time I turn them on.
The "cat" inhabits a small world of his own with his minions to feed his ego. It could'nt be any other way! I've seen the phenomenon before in various pursuits of interest be it cars...airplanes....boats....or motorcycles.
Thers's no denying the good stuff.

His 'spelling' is not 'broken english',it is very deliberate and quite witty when you consider it in that light.Don't ask me the reason for it however.
His reasoning on many points audio is sound and worthwile.
He creates controversy to keep the spotlight on himself.Kinda like a lot of radio and tv commentators.
He is a deliberate troll therefore.His agenda is fulfilled thus.
I check-out his website occaisionally.His opinion is just that.Not to be taken as Gospel.Not to be dismissed out of hand.

With regard to his remaking the 19s and selling the for $50K:It has seved his purpose.He has got free publicity on this forum.

when i arrived in brazil back in 1996, i was searching on a second hand store a cheap receiver.
Talking with the owner, he brought me to a closed room, and he had there a splendid pair of Altec 19 displaid. I coulnd't believe it, to find these beauties in brazil, and bought them. I used these for a couple of years. Then i replaced the original horn with a wood radial horn, and added first a jbl 077 supertweeter, and afterwards a Coral H100 , and the system improoved substantially.

Seen the anouncement of this crazy cat, he never does the things he promises.
He was kicked off our Tannoy Monitor Gold Website Yahoo group board after similar misbehaviour. He did the same with the Tannoy speakers, he knows nothing and if you see his speakers, one can only have pity and smile, he is a victim of his own candid camera.
